I live in one of the most liberal states in the country and I don't know anybody who likes Islam or thinks it's a great religion. Accepting that Islam, like all religions is protected by the first amendment does not equal "supporting" the religion. I despise the horrible extremist views toward gay people and that women have few rights, but I will always defend their constitutional right to hold stupid beliefs that I abhor. The Bible and the Koran are filled with terrible ideas, but I respect everyone's right to practice religion as they see fit, as long as they stay within our civil law.
I used to live in a part of the country with many Muslims and they came to my business. Most did not practice the extreme version of the religion and were more like most Christians who don't follow every word of the bible. Some women covered their hair, many didn't and one of the best hairstylists I ever had owned a salon in a heavily Middle Eastern, some Chaldeon but largely Muslim neighborhood. There were a couple of gay muslims who worked there. They didn't necessarily advertise it to everyone they knew but stated that their most people in their families accepted them and certainly weren't trying to kill them. The Muslims that I met who were born in the US tended to be less relgious than their parents and had more modern western beliefs.
What do people who hate Muslims suggest we do? Do we deny them their constitutional right to freedom of religion? Kick legal immigrants out of the US for being Muslim? What about extreme Christians who hold negative beliefs about gays and women, are they okay because they are Christian? I hate all religions that follow strict dogma and tell people how to act and make judgements based on gender or sexual orientation but everyone has the right to believe what they want in this country.
There is a radical element associated with all major religions. Most African countries that were under British rule and thus Christian majority, tend to impose severe consequences for homosexual behaviors.

That’s part of the African culture and has nothing to do with Christianity.
Christianity unlike Judaism & Islam does not forbid and criminalize homosexuality.
If Trump bans abortion or homosexuality doesn’t mean he does it in the name of Christ.
Talk about Western countries, not 3rd world poor African countries.
Those so-called Christian Talibans, do they stone adulterous? Do they lash homosexuals and throw them from rooftop buildings? Do they force women to cover themselves up? Do they demand you to be killed and hanged for apostasy and blasphemy? Do they ban alcohol? Do they force you to become Christian?

The burqa/ niqab predates Islam in some tribes in parts of the world. I am unaware of any country that mandates all women be covered, head to toe.

A handful of countries ban all alcohol sales/ consumption as did the US during prohibition. Some countries ban consumption by Muslims while supplying non- Muslims with their beverage of choice.

If you voted for Trump who is friendly with the HQ of the religion which is Saudi Arabia, you support Islam.
