Militia groups and vigilantes head to the Mexican border, to "observe and report, and offer aid in any way we can", including the Texas Minutemen. However, the US Army is not amused, The Army issued reports to commanders about the "unregulated militias" purportedly there to support the US Border Patrol.
Landowners in the area are actually more concerned than elated. One landowner (himself having his own patrol) even said the militia members were (paraphrasing) all mouth and no substance. An elderly property owner, herself experiencing undocumented migrants pass through her property, said this was a matter for the US Border Patrol, not a self-styled civilian militia. However, the owner of the huge King Ranch in South Texas (larger than Rhode Island), south of Corpus Christi, says he would let the militia on his property.
The Oath Keepers have been along the boarder now for 10 years or more, supporting the Border Patrol and even coordinating with Border Patrol on tactics and communication systems.
