NC at #49 and pay at the low end. Starting pay around $33,000. All this thread is going to do is cause more teachers to go to Calf.

Looking at the link above:

New Hampshire has no state income tax on earnings and is ranked #2.

Wyoming has no state income tax and #11 on math scores as opposed to #41 in liberal, high tax California.

10.3% middle-class income tax rate on the 54,000th dollar of income and ranks #44.

Wow, guess they aren't getting much of a return on their investment.

And that top 10 list is dominated by blue states. #10 Montana is the only certifiably red state.

And incidentally, Mississippi and Oklahoma rank #47 and #42 in that list. So, what was it you said was so great about those two states?

Ah, so education has nothing to do with education. Got it.

And still no link/quote for the line you made up.

You need to move past the instructional hour and look at the actual time they spend preparing plans, attending meetings, meeting with students or parents and grading work on top of teaching in the classroom. You also have to consider the impacts of benefits.

Most people never give any thought to what their billable rate vs total time at work vs total compensation is. The same issues are true for teachers.

On another note- states without income tax typically have sky high sales tax or real estate tax. They definitely get thee $ from somewhere.

You gave overall education stats for the US. The OP was talking about teacher pay in 3 states.

I don't need a link to demonstrate that the OP was talking about teacher pay in California, Oklahoma and Mississippi. All you need to do is read the OP's comments.

Minnesota and Massachusetts Democrats (except for Elizabeth Warren or the extreme leftist, high crime rate city of Minneapolis) seem to do a decent job. California Democrats are the most regressive, backwards and corrupt state political party in the country.

Massachusetts has very low taxes compared to California and high quality public services. Democrats and Republicans insist on the best no matter what political runs it. The same can be said about Minnesotans, except for the radical liberals in high-crime, corrupt Minneapolis.

Except for Elizabeth Warren, Massachusetts always seems to have decent people running it no matter what political party as the populations insists on only the best. Californians like to elect some the most corrupt politicians the world has seen, and most of them are Democrats.

California Democrats tax on socialist level rates near the level of Sweden, Denmark, Germany etc but provide worse services than many third-world countries.

As evidenced by the report, California ranks #44 with overall education as bad or worse than some third-world countries but yet the state has state and local taxes that are socialist European level.

Massachusetts and Montana are well-ran states. I am a Republican, but the Democrats in Minnesota and Massachusetts except for one senator seem to be logical, intelligent and provide good services to the public with moderate tax rates.

California is the most regressive state in America. The Democrats run the state like a third-world country, but with very high European level taxes.
