The picture is obviously (and very poorly) manipulated to make the crowd appear larger than it is.
They stretched it out as well as turned up the contrast to make the sky blindingly, unnaturally white. In nature the sky never looks that white, without any trace of blue. Besides that it's just a terrible shot taken with a cheap lo-res phone camera.

I don't have the slightest formal or informal training in photography, but even I know you can play tricks with camera angles, elevation, and so on and so forth.
