Trump thinks so, and is taking the road that is most likely to create problems instead of success. Vet them, disallow the undesirables and allow the desirables and process them legally. America was once known for its creativity and ability to make the most massive and most difficult projects look easy. We have 20,000 Border Patrol troops on that border, that can easily handle any security issues that arise. And Americans can easily handle the issues of vetting and processing the refugees. Lets just to it with the proficiency we are known for. This not a catastrophe, its an opportunity, so lets ignore Trumps violent nonsense, and just do the work.

yeah lets go back to a time when immigrants came through a specific port designed to register those immigrants, and compare that to those immigrants that cross our borders illegally, who are not registered before entering the country.
lets also compare two completely different times as well. remember the immigration laws are also different as is the enforcement of said immigration laws. back then the INS was not going around having its hands tied by congress, where as today they are.
comparing your scenario is like comparing the US military just after world war two to the soviet military of today and suggesting that todays soviet military would kick post world war two americas backside in a war.
