Starting this thread with mod approval to discuss the various governorship races in the national political context.
I'll start by saying that the various midwest governors that look to be flipping back to Ds such as Michigan, Illinois, Iowa, and potentially Wisconsin are important for two reasons.
1. For the next redistricting, Dems will control these states and Rs will not be able to add to the current gerrymandering in the House. Some of the currently gerrymandered districts will be rolled back.
2. With these midwest states flipping back to Ds, this is a bad sign for Trump in terms of his chances to keep these states in his column in 2020. Voters seem to be coming home to their historical voting patterns in opposition to Trump and they may well go back to the D column.
Looks like Rs might win Connecticut governor also, I don't think that was predicted.
