We are not going backwards.... the days of the white men who backed things that led to Jim Crow or those before them who sanctioned slavery..... will not return in America no matter how hard they try.
The Confederates have been fighting in Congress since the end of the battle field of bullets and cannon balls.... and American are today, more aware of the Covert Continuance of the Civil War that has raged in our Congressional Halls for over 150+ yrs.
It's no longer "covert" its "overt" and people see it, and people know it. They know now of the Confederate wars waged by Confederate Governors and Confederates in every level of out government. They know and see the continual aim to dismantle the Government the Confederates Hated.

If the Right Wing Confederates fill up the courts, the America people will bring it to a halt and reshape the courts to fit with the basics of Democracy, the same Democracy the Union fought to preserve and advance.

The Confederate will be defeated and this time when they are defeated it will be conclusive. They wreaked havoc in America for 150 yrs... sill trying to recreate the Confederacy where the wealthy rule over the poor and make indentured servants of the masses.

The only people who don't see it, is the same mentality and character of those working poor, and dire poor whites whom the Confederates used 150 yrs ago, to be catchers of musket balls and cannon ball fodder, to protect the wealthy who ruled and dictated over them. That Serf mentality is deeply rooting within those who endorse and support the Confederate Agenda.
Many of the people won't awaken to see the truth, and the past of "white people" supporting Confederate Agenda and seeking to recreate white dominance will find that the multicultural make up of the nation, will never return to a white male dominated system, and white women are learning that a white male dominated system is a gender repressive system. Today, women are learning its not all about having a white man to provide the money and support shopping and living through chasing media depictions of fictional imaging. They are gaining political power and with that comes the promotion of gender equality. They see what the men have done in the spike and crash of the nation, its economy and the lives of people and communities, and they see how the gap of economics has damaged a nation from one coast to the next.
They will join with the multicultural people on matter of ethnicity, race and gender... as American reshapes itself to become about the Democracy it was designed to be...

There will be no repeat of having courts of white men pushing white male dominance....

Breaking the cycle of the past was never going to be pretty, but for 100's of years, the walls of the white dominance has been cracked and being shattered in many sectors of society, and it can't be mended back to be what it once was. When the shattering is complete, then its a matter of cleaning up the fragments that is litter from the shattering, and sweeping the areas for a multicultural society to navigate without impediments hindering their ability and accessibility to navigate all aspects of America.

The Re-instituting of Democracy is and will move forward, and the principle of equality will do what its job is, which is be the basis and foundation of what supports Democracy.

All conservative opinions from what was an already conservative court, the question is what are the so called activist opinions in the past few decades. If anything the most important opinions have gone one way, is a 7-2 better than a 5-4?

I don't believe those are the cases the poster was referring to.

But of course a D-majority House wouldn't let Trump get away with it, so the only chance for the OP's proposal is in the next two months. Not happenin'.

It's true what you say, but just because they could do it doesn't mean they would.

the senate nor the president, even working in conjunction with each other, CANNOT increase the number of supreme court justices without an act of congress. the judicary act of 1869 set the number of scotus justices at nine total, while creating the courts of appeals.

the electoral college does not eliminate one person one vote. the reality is that ALL elections re local, including the presidential election.

i heard this strategy proposed on NPR by a left-wing nut job college professor. sad part is that people will latch onto the idea because it suits their sense of revenge. they tweak the law and their interpretations to fit their needs.

Thank you, I stand (or sit) corrected.

The Supreme Court needs to have a maximum term limit like most jobs. 10 years is long enough to serve. This will end this idea of serving until you are too old.
