Economy is booming, unemployment is at historical lows, wages are rising, and so forth.
If Democrats bust out with large spending/social welfare plans they'll have to come up with ways of funding; that most always means higher taxes. Good luck with that when all everyone seems to believe is DT's/GOP's "tax reform" is largely behind this booming economy of late.
The economy was booming when Trump took office. Nobody believes that but Trump supporters.
Have not heard even one economist make this assertion.

And yet the GOP still lost the House meaning, according to some pundits, that they were voting for or against Trump. The GOP should not have lost as many seats as they did with the economy being so good.
Actually, as Bernie Sanders has alluded, Democrats can walk and chew gum at the same time. IOW, they will advance their policy agenda AND hold Trump's feet to the fire at the same time.
What are their policies? I haven't seen a coherent set yet.

No, the economy was in its weakest recovery in history and benefited only a few blue states. That's why the orange man won Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Florida.

When is the last time you heard a POTUS give (and or receive) credit for a booming economy to his predecessor? There *might* be a few one off times in history, but that largely was when the office was filled by a new POTUS of the same party, *and* the good times kept rolling.
You and others can (and have) gone on until blue in the face with the (yes) facts it was Obama's administration who laid ground work for the now booming economy. But that still hasn't stopped nearly all the credit going to GOP/DT. It just is how politics and electorate works.

Look at map one posted above, and see where DNC picked up House seats. They did so in areas largely where they were expected, again no surprises.
"By the numbers: After the 2018 midterm elections, 20 House Republican incumbents lost their seats to a Democrat. Of those, 10 were in Clinton-won districts, while 9 were incumbents who Republicans had previously said were in competitive, coin-flip races."
This means as things stand 2020 will be DT's race to lose. Again especially if the economy continues to perform at record levels.
