Being an excop, you should know that, statistically, Granny with a pistol is not going to do squat in a situation like this. People freeze, even men who are fairly familiar with guns. Normal citizens are not tuned into thinking they will be faced with a gunman situation, and they do not perform like you think they would. Of all people, you, an ex professional, should know that better than anyone.

I am a damn good shot, but I do not go through life expecting to be confronted with a maniac with a gun...…...most of us do not.

STUPID "interpretations" on comments like this is one reason we CAN'T have HONEST ADULT discussions on issues!

I've read numerous eye witness accounts from various media sources. They are all over the place, as would be expected in a traumatic event. The only thing people agree on is that the gunman was dressed in black. We'll know when we know. Until then, everything is speculation.

How does one distinguish between a good guy with a gun and bad guy with a gun?

Do the good guys wear white hats?

This shooter threw one or more smoke bombs before opening fire- reducing visibility.

I doubt it. It was probably some idiot looking for attention before he took himself out. He was probably inspired by the synagogue shooting, and all the ones before that. Probably on psychotropic drugs. It just keeps getting worse.

We could also use the Vegas snipers nest, too.
My point exactly. If someone wants you dead, you are going to die. No matter how much firepower you have.
Evil will not make it out of there without harm.

I think I read where this was at a COLLEGE event.

I don't think the demographics of the committee had ANYTHING to do with it unless ALL students are local.
