He's apparently part of a growing laundry list of potentials but still a surprise to hear his name in the conversation at all. I thought Jared had put a total kibosh on Krispy Kreme in retribution for putting Jared's daddy in jail.

CBS News has learned former New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is being considered to replace Jeff Sessions as attorney general.

Two sources familiar with the matter tell CBS News White House Correspondent Major Garrett that outgoing Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi, former New York City Mayor and President Donald Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani, and former Attorney General William Barr, who served under President George H. W. Bush, are also on the list, which is expected to grow

But is Christie willing to give up his cushy job at ABC News to go work for one of the most dysfunctional administrations in recent memory? I'd stay far away from that trainwreck.

I would totally approve of this. Christie fizzled a bit near the end of his term, but he was still one of the best governors NJ has had in a while. He's also anti-drug. Plus, he's really good at kicking people off the beach if the need may come.

I thought Christie started out a good Governor but he really was really awful at the end of his term. I think he had the lowest approval rating of any Governor anywhere in modern history.

Edit: He had a 16 (!) percent approval rating with even his base having an approval rating in the low 30s.

He might go and check out the office first and see if Jeff left a plate of cookies behind before giving it serious consideration.

Well he'll just fit right in with all the best people then won't he.

Seriously, I've listened to him talk a few times and I find him to be quite intelligent. Whoever Trump puts in there must be willing to follow the rule of law. If Trump is looking for a yes man to obstruct the Mueller investigation, then they need to read about Nixon's A.G. who is the only A.G. in history to go to jail. He was convicted of obstructing justice, conspiracy, lying under oath, disbarred, and served 19 months in prison for trying to shield a corrupt president. Hopefully whoever Trump puts in there will not bend to corruption, because in the end, they will go down with a sinking ship. Protecting one man for a lifetime of ruin is not worth the effort.

Chris Christie being considered to replace Sessions as AG

I believe he would be competent in that position ... under ordinary circumstances.
