We have a terrible back log of asylum cases already while those waiting now are on our soil sucking up our taxes and resources and as we all know most never show up for their court dates anyway because most don't have a valid reason for asylum.
FYI: people can still seek asylum at US port of entry, but they need to be parole into US by CBP at port of entry. The parole has to be approve by a GS-13. They can remain in US with the parole while their application is pending.

No parole? They have to stay in Mexico and wait for their application. It's going to be a while until they see a judge

Should be interesting if nothing else.

The Geneva Convention, does not make any laws here, or amend the US Constitution
Are "you people" really that emotionally involved?

The intent is to overwhelm the system. We as a country say thank you, I'm sorry, please abuse me more. Battered wife syndrome, to the nth degree.

The US is a signatory to the Geneva Convention and are bound by its requirements with the same force and effect as US statute. Do you know the fundamentals of international law? I do...

No one can sign away the constitution for anything in the Geneva Convention. Don't be CRAZY, now.

I’m not getting goaded into another low-information discussion. Sorry. If you want to understand how international treaties work, there are readily-available sources out there for you.

I don't give a **** how international treaties work. I know damn well how the US Constitution works.
No one can alter the Constitution with any legislation, act, or regulations.
Americans are not governed by foreign documents. Period.

Nothing official until after the 60 days ....... "Process".
Republicans are all about Process ...... Leftists, NOT so much.

Guilty until Proven Innocent is their idea of "process".

Guilty of being a foreign national until proven.........what?

Our backlog now is 750,000 ..... how many do you think will satisfy the Leftists?
I don't think it's "battered wife syndrome" -- it's a well thought out plan. Flood the USA with unvetted "refugees" and then give them "sanctuary" so they can do anything they please with no consequences.

{shrug} Everyone on the internet is an expert in international law. We're also all tall and good looking.
