The bigots in the South switched their allegiance from the Democrat Party to Republican Party in the aftermath of the Civil Rights legislation. Nixon was one of the first to exploit this for a national race back in his 1968 and 1972 elections. It was a more gradual process for state offices in the South but was probably complete by the late 1990's.
He’s a white-nationalist, cut and dry, through and through. Stop providing cover for him.
I'm providing cover by saying he's not a conservative . All nationalist are "white nationalist" by default in a historical white majority country and culture. Nothing wrong with that. He might be a white-only nationalist which is also fine by me if that's someone's viewpoint. I'm specifically referring to Spencer saying rights come only from the state and collective and not by nature or god. I have a big problem with that.
I don't know if the Republican party is racists. BUT it does seem that the racists define themselves as Republican. Perhaps we should ask them why.
People who are bigoted against people of color are Republicans.
People who are bigoted against whites are Democrats.
The whole "white racists became Republicans" lie peddled by the Left is, just that: a lie.
Southern whites became Republicans as Southern whites became less racist.
There was significant movement from the Democratic Party to the Republican Party by Southern whites in the 1980s through the late 1990s. Race had nothing to do with that; Bill Clinton's escapades, and Democratic hostility towards faith, had a lot.
What party did whites who supported state's rights vote for in th 1860s? 1960s? 2010s?
What party did whites who supported/admired the Confederacy vote for in the 1860s? 1960s? 2010s?
What party did the most to challenge the rights of Black voters to exercise their vote in the 1860s? 1960s? 2010s?
You see it happenall the time today. Voters LEAVE parties when they feel that party stops supporting their views and they jump to a party that does or create a new one from the ground up. Why is or suddenly hard to understand that the people who once stood under the Democrats left once Democrats stopped backing their views?
D'Souza has an interesting section on the evolution of black voters from R to D. Following the civil war, blacks voted 90% for Republicans. The biggest shift came not during the civil rights era (roughly 1960's). It happened under FDR, who got 75% of the black vote in 1936. The Democratic Party then was still the party of racism and segregation, so that was not the cause of the shift. The cause according to D'Souza was that blacks supported the New Deal. Median black income was $500/year (about $9000 in 2018 dollars). They supported the new deal, FDR, and Democrats for the sake of sheer survival, not due to race politics.
After LBJ's 'Great Society' black support of Democrats support climbed again, near its current level of near 90%, again not because of race politics, but because of economic politics. After all, Democrats were still busy trying to filibuster the Civil rights act in 1964.

nope, see post #1. Tell me specifically where it is wrong. You can't just make a claim with zero argument to back it up.

What does that have to do w/ WHITE voters switching parties?
Thank you for pointing out that Black people vote for solid economic policies. That does nothing to explain how all the support for positions that were tied to the racist White Democrats of the past has shifted to the current Republican party?
