Freedom of speech has limits.

These boys are very stupid. They'll get a big fat dose of the real world when they graduate.

The limits are libel, slander, and overt threats against a specific person. That’s it.

Let's end with, just because people didn't sue, doesn't mean they didn't have the right to sue. This is a logic fail on your end, but not surprising given the caliber of your reasoning throughout this thread.

While somewhat irrelevant, since as stated Harvard is a private university, you should give more detail so people can look it up. It might be that some details escaped the limits of your intellect.

Even libel and slander won't see the state punish you. Merely, they allow another individual to sue you for damages.

Sooner or later, there will be a web page with the photo and the names of all those giving the Nazi salute.

Then every time someone Googles, say "James Anthony Stephenson," up will pop this page and there will be his photo.

Now if "James Anthony" dates someone or pursues a career in a field that thinks this is "no big deal," "boys will be boys," he's good to go.

But if that's not the case, "James Anthony" will find himself "ghosted" a lot, and wondering what happened.

The school is funded by the State...
If someone wants to pursue civil damages, they are more than welcome, remembering "slap back" fees to those that lose.
