We view her as a joke...and we are highly amused.

She said Acadia National Park is a perfect example of Democratic Socialism. Huh?

She said, “Unemployment is low because everyone has two jobs. Unemployment is low because people are working 60, 70, 80 hours a week and can barely feed their family.”

There was a parody video of her going around and her response was to say that Republicans were so afraid of her they were taking fake videos and posting them as real.

She referred to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict as an occupation. When she was pushed on this her reply was, “I am not the expert on geopolitics on this issue. I just look at things through a human rights lens and I may not use the right words. Middle Eastern politics is not exactly at my kitchen table every night.”

Let's give her the benefit of the doubt and say she never should have made a statement about the Middle East in the first place. She has an Economics degree. She doesn't know how unemployment rates are calculated?

If you're going to be the next fresh thing - you'd better be the smartest one in the room with examples of what can be done in order to make your ideas work and a strong ability to express exactly what you mean, otherwise you're just throwing out phrases from the playbook and haven't given it any real thought.

There are some really bright women out there her age - including women of color. Ocasio-Cortez is not in that category. She's a hair twirler.

She, by some fluke, got elected, and now it’s midnight for Cinderella. Does she really think she will have any influence in Washington? It takes years for the newbies to gain any traction.

I'll admit the bolded does not make me happy, if true. I'd have to see the context for some of the other quotes you posted and circle back.

Sure, so you say. The attempts to brush her off as amusing come off rather desperate to me.

Desperate? How so?
How is this twit to be feared?

I'll say for myself as someone on the left, I like her, but like many others, I'm still feeling her out. I'm excited by her prospects the way I'd be excited for a rookie that shows promise on one of my favorite sports teams.

As a side note, our country's hands aren't exactly clean when it comes to the installation of Latin American dictators, but that's as separate topic altogether and not fit for the thread.
First off I and we do not know her well enough to know for sure she would become corrupt and financially set her self up at the expense of others she might have integrity in the end we shall see.

However to answer the rest, the three main things she stresses about herself, is she is a socialist, she is "of color" and she is a woman. If she is going to make that the three important things to self identity then expect us to judge her on those three qualities the most.

One of her main messages to her voters is she is gonna take on evil rich wall street and make it fair for them, about the same message socialists always say in latin America and in the end the people become jobless, more poor , and under more control of said leader, Venezuela being one of the latest examples.

Who cares if she is of color and woman? I don't I am sick of some on the left saying if I don't agree with left policy or a politician of color who is left then I'm a racist.

News flash if she was against gun control, against open borders , and there was a "old white man" who was for gun control and open borders I would support her. Color and gender have NOTHING to do with me on supporting her or not yet the left always make it out about being that. So you tell me who is actually judging by color and gender? I'd say the left is.

They will use the Israeli occupation to tar her and try to call her an anti-Semite as they've done with Jeremy Corbyn.

Of course, Jezza is about to be the Prime Minister, so maybe that tactic doesn't work so well.

I'll tell you what I honestly think, and that is, she will NOT finish her term, and in fact may very well resign with in four months of taking office.
AS soon as she sees her foolishness is going nowhere, she will quit, stating she feels there is to much opposition.
Fools like this can't take the heat, and usually quit, sighting rejection as the cause.

She is just a fresh(wo)man rep from a single district. With no seniority she has no power at all. So why does the right get so overwrought about her? It's gonna be OK. Your privilege is intact. She is not going to destroy white America.
