Some business owners are like years ago. Small town America gave us good roll models. The guys who had the car dealerships, the local grocery store and the bank had to be honest or the whole town knew about it.
DH surmises that when all those MBAs programs teaching business ethics were different from personal ethics. things got screwed up.
People rant about the media all day on C-D. They are all corporate owned. Do you think they are all fair and balanced and honest, doing no harm?
In case you have not noticed, we haven’t had much free enterprise for a long time.

Most people getting attracted to America are from 3rd world nations
We still have a very large middle class. Median US home sizes are over 25% larger than when I was growing up, and family sizes were larger when I grew up.
And the solution is to eliminate cronyism, not Capitalism. The best way to do that is to eliminate government wherever possible. What doesn’t exist cannot be corrupted.
You excuse business involvement in corruption by saying if there were no government there’d be no corruption? That’s absurd. Better you defended capitalism by advocating punishment for those who abuse it. Unless you think abuse of capitalism is impossible.
Socialism is slavery, a much more bruteful and sinister form of slavery.
I believe people should have the freedom to live the life they choose and keep the fruit of their honest labor.
You’re only free to choose your life and keep your fruits because you live in a society that protects you from brigands and the demands of noble warlords. That society demands a price. If you don’t want to pay it leave its protections and take up brigandage yourself. Or off the grid subsistence farming if you like.
European workers might be blessed but there is always someone that has to pay the price.
My wife has a good friend that is French. She worked for a company until she and her husband decided to have a baby. She then took a leave of paid absence from her job FOR NEARLY 2 YEARS which was great for her and baby but the the company was required by law to hold her job for her. That is just crazy from a business stand point.
Perhaps that is why France has a 9.1% unemployment rate and a slow 1.7% GDP growth rate. When you are anti-business everyone suffers.
Sears can do what they want. The employees let go will get unemployment. It all works out fine.

The poor in America do not get poorer. We have a bloated safety net. Actually a lot of wealthy immigrants choose America. If you have money its much easier to immigrate here. Which is a good thing.

DH probably is not that far from the truth, if he's off-bullseye at all. Corporations are to "maximize shareholder interests" first and foremost.
