Who are these people who seek to vilify everything that we boomers learned as children?
This is not a liberal or conservative issue. This is a fringe group who are insecure about their intellect and constantly need to think up new ideas to shore up their illusion of intellect. They don't mind attacking things that the rest of hold dear, because many of them have multiple national loyalties. This is what Judge Bork called "the chattering class".
And not just we boomers, our parents before us and their parents before them. The Greatest Generation (fought WWII) loved Christmas.) Remember that famous Norman Rockwell painting of the family at Thanksgiving? It was called Freedom from Want. One of his Four Freedoms paintings. He painted during the 1950s.
Nothing gets much more American than that! It's not conservatives or liberals, it's idiots. As a woman who has almost finished cooking the dinner, just waiting for the guests, Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
So, the teacher did not lie. We were still killing them in the 1890s. At Wounded Knee almost 200 unarmed mostly women and children were slaughtered by the US cavalry and got medals for it.
Maybe you should wonder how many of us were eating alive by them. Sheesh, first it was vilifying Columbus by not honoring Columbus day and now this.

Yeah, and the government killed nearly 100 in waco just decades ago. Doesnt change my Thanksgiving to the Lord for all that is good.
Nor Mine. Heck in our family the women do the pies and cookies the night before while they drink wine. usually a lot of it, lol. And laugh the night away. The next day the guys usually get to do the Turkey and fixings ready for the main meal. In fact of the people I know more often then not the men are cooking the turkeys more then ever before. It is not 1950 anymore
I have an even bigger problem with Thanksgiving. Despite being 200 LBS I simply can't eat a lot. That's someone of a downer. All this food (we have been preparing for at least two weeks) and I am going to eat a nibble.
Part of me wishes I was 25 when I worked physically all day and could pile up my plate to no end...and eat it all.
Now I'm full after the bread.
Oh, well, I guess in some ways it's a good thing. Waste not, want not. Everything will be eaten by someone or as leftovers.
Happy Thanksgiving from Thanksgiving and Indian Wars Central - Southern New England.
No reason to fill children's heads with sensationalized garbage.
No reason to not enjoy your turkey and be thankful.
What is the issue again?
How does gorging yourself on turkey and other food relate to celebrating or being thankful for something?
Look around on FB for proof this...Thanksgiving, the emphasis is on THE FOOD.
