Elitism like this has made the military 7 to 1 Republican. Military doesn't even come close to paying new recruits $15 an hour that they can get anywhere these days. You wouldn't live in a tent in a sandstorm for $1500 a day.

Didn't the entire Trump family go there last year for Thanksgiving? How exactly did he duck out of something when it was planned all along, done in previous years and completely expected?
I don't feel sorry for the troops because I don't think they care one way or another whether President Trump shows up to serve turkey on Thanksgiving, but I do think it's interesting that he seems to be studiously avoiding any trips to see active duty military members in war zones. It makes one wonder.

During my time on deployment I never once heard anyone who was upset, let down or frustrated that the President wasn't coming to talk to us. We cared about when we were getting the hell out of that ****hole, how our families were doing back home and making sure everyone made it out in 1 piece. The President doesn't visit the troops to help the troops, he visits the troops so the media can catch him on video serving turkey, making a few jokes and acting like one of the common folk.
To me, Trump has done enough negative things, meaningful things, that stuff like this just distracts from the important issues.
I understand, but I think it moves the conversation from the real issues.
