Sure Walmart can pay more. Why? Why should they? But if they did watch the hours get cut so in essence they make the same money.

Can't say that I disagree with Bernie on this one. Wal Mart could pay more. System is out of control.

Could and should are two different things. What do Walmart shelf stockers do that makes them worthy of 15 an hour? Raise their pay then you have to raise the pay of the more experienced as well. Then prices go up and 1 of 2 things happen. Shoppers shop elsewhere or Walmart folds. What won't happen is upper management taking a pay cut to pay for the low level workers.

No easy solutions. Anyone with a functioning brain knows that Socialism doesn't work. But the gap between the haves and have nots is much worse than it used to be.

Very true and I dont have any solutions. What I do know is if you do a massive bump on payroll you get a massive bump up in cost of living.

And Bernie got his ideas from a woman who was interviewed in 2008. when asked where Obama would get the money for the free stuff she expected to get from the 1st black president, she said with certainty, "from Obama's stash!"

What about unionization? Is it true that Walmart has used anti-unionization tactics?

Walmart could close the stores if unionization talks start.

.

Knowing the track record of the Walton's and Walmart, would you suspect otherwise ? article

Walmart Manager Training document. I have no proof of authenticity.

Then there is this quote from the founder, Sam Walton...Sam Walton always said this -- he said: "I pay low wages. I can take advantage of that. We're going to be successful, but the basis is a very low-wage, low-benefit model of employment". link

Labor organization/representation only works when the majority of workers recognize they have strength in numbers. Capitalism has historically resisted labor organization.
