Nothing new here - my father was a federal employee, and way back in the 1950s, federal employees were not allowed to be political on the job. As I recall, even placing a political bumper sticker on our car or wearing an "I Like Ike" button were also verboten. Yard signs were unheard of then.

Of course, I could and did wear an "I Like Ike" button - but I was a child at the time.

Federal Employees Are Warned Not to Discuss Trump

Welcome to the DICTATORSHIP of the TYRANT/DICTATOR Trump!

You called it ! If Trump could have his detractors drawn and quartered, he would be thrilled.

Ive been with the federal since Obama era. Regardless of your political standing, the sitting Pres is still your boss. Common sense tells me that you shouldn't be talking crap about your boss during work hours, especially if you are employee for the executive branch (military, federal LEOs, etc)..

Off the clock and off duty? Have at it

You shouldn't talk about religion either.

Discussions of those topics can become a distraction. Employer, federal or otherwise, can curb distractions in the workplace.

Considering that federal employees work for divisions like the courts and government, both of which often involve politics, being limited on discussing politics does seem ironic.
