I'll say this. Those who served under him knew that he was one of us. No one could say that about Bill Clinton or Barrack Obama. Especially after it came out that Bill personally stated that he loathed the military and Obama did his best to out do Johnson with his micromanagement.
He did his best as president during a very tumultuous political time and was always classy and dignified. My wife and I just visited the George Bush Library last week. It is a wonderful place to go if you want to learn about his and his family's life as well as the history of that era. I highly recommend it. It is located in College Station, TX.
This is a day to put aside political differences for a moment and honor the memory of a good and decent man who served his country in both war and peace.
He gave us the phrase that describes today's economy, voodoo economics. Made friends with the man who defeated him in his bid for a second term. He helped put Russia in its place.
Late last night on a local show (I live in the Houston metro) they showed pictures from Barbara's funeral that included Melania (I remember hearing that Barbara and possibly others didn't want DJT at her funeral). My next thought...Will they invite the current President to the funeral? I heard early this morning that the President and the First Lady have been invited to the funeral.

Rest in peace, Mr. President. My condolences to the Bush family.
