George H.W. Bush has passed away tonight at 94.

Please be respectful. There is a time and a place to criticize someone that has died. A thread announcing the passing is not the place.

I may not have agreed with his politics but he respected everyone in our country and never had a bad thing to say about anyone who disagreed with him. Now he’s with Barbara. God bless them both.

In the summer of '88 my girlfriend and I went to visit my uncle who lives in Kennebunkport. He took us out on his little sailboat and, as we were leaving the harbor, two big loud cigarette boats came in. The first had four men on it, all tough looking clean cut guys in polo shirts and sunglasses. On the second were two men and Vice President George H.W. Bush. We all waved to him and he gave us a big straight-armed return wave. My uncle was not actually acquainted with the VP but, being the gregarious sort, he yelled out, "Where's the red one?" Mr. Bush yelled back, "It's in the shop." My girlfriend was impressed.

I served under him and he was a good President and Commander in Chief.

RIP, Sir.
