That's true, if they really believe we're all evil than why take taxpayer money...
And I guess that is one reason I am so aggrieved by this situation. The leaders in that place figured out how to wrangle public monies to fund their set up . . . but then they segregate themselves and do who-knows-what to the people who live there. They will take our money . . . and indeed, set up all sorts of phony paperwork to substantiate a non-existent family situation . . . and then teach that the world that coughs up the $$$ is going to harm the residents - as a way of frightening the women and children into compliance. These people proved how immoral they were - and manipulative - the minute they applied for public assistance. They were sure willing to lie about that!!!
If the women are OK with it than who am I to disagree with their lifestyle choice?
They have no choice, no rights, no freedom, and are subject to abuse..this country is built on freedom and we grant all our citizens equal protection from these kinds of horrors. If we ignore these abuses we are as guilty as those who inflict it. These women aren't "normal" they are likely abused to the point of being mentally ill. I liken it to the situation in North Korea...those people cheer for the "dear leader" even as they are murdered and starved.
Oh my goodness, I said above that I was kidding...geez.
Hee Hee Hee. I got it, MamaB.
I wonder if those women are gonna be on Larry King tonite. I want to see what they have to say. I know they are terribly distressed but I also want to see how they act - cause I think they are beaten down and dare not vary from the "party line."
What worries me is - will provisions be made for women who want to leave but want their children with them? And how will they support themselves when they have no skills or education? Very troubling.

I believe that there is a network of women who have escaped from polygamous marriages in Utah and Arizonia, which helps them adjust to life on the 'outside'. Naturally, most of these women who leave are incredibly uneducated and have a lot of children. Still, they have found a way to help each other adjust and adapt.
