Trump discovered the tariffs were actually bad for the US economy. Who would have thought?

Yeah not exactly what happened but...yes a truce for 90 days...meaning Trump didn't realize anything. He's beginning to negotiate. Let's hope he is better with China than with Mexico and Canada or it will take another year of talks.

AND China labels fentanyl a controlled substance. That is good -- what it really means -- what happens in reality is yet to be seen.

But the announcements are good.

“President Xi Jinping pledged to increase Chinese purchases of American products”

Who would have thought? The liberals said it couldn’t be done. Trump made it so.

that is the only weapon Trump has to force China to act right and not cheat. At least Trump is taking on China who are the #1 threat to us not Russia. All previous Presidents didn't do anything.

China has been offering that for months, and have been perplexed why Trump wasn't acknowledging that fact. So now he has - good.

Hopefully Trump stands by the deal this time, he has changed his mind before.

Hopefully China stands by the deal. I highly doubt it.

I hope so too. Our trade gap has done nothing but get bigger since the tariffs. That should taper off but so far it hasn't.

Huh?

Exports increased 66% under Obama. They increased again under Trump in his first year an would have for 2018. They were increasing until Trump got in his pissy fight which did nothing but increase the trade deficit We just kept importing more and more and more, which was good for the coffers but not good for anything else. Meanwhile our exports nose dived. Maybe 2019 will bounce back to pre-trade war numbers but that's a maybe. Depends if he's serious about back tracking his stupid policies or just plows ahead. That or congress could go a pair and restrict the Presidents ability to negotiate unilaterally.

Huh? You seriously don’t understand that imports from China have also been increasing faster than exports, causing an increasing trade deficit?
