It is very simple. In WWII, we were attacked at Pearl Harbor, we were defending America. In Vietnam, we went in to a situation we should have never gotten involved in.

stop it! Japan didn't attacked Pearl Harbor to invade the USA , they did it because of the oil embargo FDR put on them. FDR wanted to fight WW 2 but the American public didn't want to, so he provoked the Japan.

if you believe an attack on the Naval Fleet in Pearl Harbor is an attack on the USA then an attack on our American soldiers and military bases in South Vietnam by the communists in the North is the same thing.

The Cold War was a continuation of WW 2......the difference is that since it was against communism, the left and intellectual liberals running our universities and media didn't view it as a threat like Nazism.

Even IF that's true, what part of US policy would suggest we have an obligation to share resources with anyone who wants them or that we don't retaliate against those attempting to steal resources from us?

We could have easily turned Korean Nationalism against China as well, but instead we turned North Korea into a Chinese protectorate.
The Vietnamese have never trusted china.

Yeah, Russia won it and then killed another 20-30 million of their own. To this day they have never had any sort of Democracy or Stability and are currently undermining much of the world...

I do thank them for squashing Hitler, but in the end it didn't work out too well for Russia and Eastern Europe or the masses killed in Chechyna , etc.

Without Britain and the united states, Germany would have only had one front. With finland helping them Russia was toast.

How many lives would have been ok for the US to lose before WWII. We were going to be sucked into the war based on that alone. Germany all but froze any water travel by civilians.

28 US dead
