A similar thing: sometimes during a police interrogation, the suspect can't take the pressure anymore to where they falsely confess to a crime.

Yeah, im sure a General in our military with multiple Bronze stars just cracked under pressure of a discussion at a table somewhere. Uh huh. Yup, im sure he even cried.

What nonsense.
No, neither lied, and the crime is NOT lieing, it is providing false information, be it deliberate or accidental or incidental or irrelevant, all that matters is that it is false.

Example

January 1. How many times did you speak to Joe that day.
A. 5 times.

July 1. How many times did you speak to Joe that day.
A. 4 times (and answer given in full belief it is true)

Bammo, you're guilty. Joe could be your cat, and you're still guilty.

Get it, false information - NOT Lies, not germane or relevant or meaningful, or deliberate,, just false.
