1837 rule prohibits the wearing of a hat indoors on the House Floor. It has not been enforced in recent years. Democrats have proposed a rule change allowing hijabs ( scarves) and yarmulkes on the House Floor. Sounds like a bipartisan slam dunk to me.
"This change will finally codify that no restriction may be placed on a member’s ability to do the job they were elected to do simply because of their faith," said incoming House Rules Committee Chairman Jim McGovern, D-Mass., who is working on the amendment with Omar and Pelosi. "The American people just elected the most diverse Congress in history and our rules should embody that."
Part of me appreciates people being honest enough to make inappropriate comments like this. At least they're open and honest about where they stand.
He's not trying to hide the fact that he's anti-Muslim. I think it was a horrible thing for him to say that, but at least we know he's intolerant and hateful.
Better than all the snakes who pretend to be tolerant of minorities but secretly hate them.

Absolutely they do. He's not even trying to be sneaky by using dog-whistle language. Dude flat out said our government is turning into an "Islamic Republic."
The fact that he's not even worried about saying that in fear of any backlash lets you know how strongly he feels when he made that statement.
What...maybe 10-12 of the 535 men and women in Congress are Muslim?
Not clear why any reasonable person would care what she wore on her head.
The proposed rule change also includes yarmulkes.
Wonder how many Congress critters wear toupees / wigs.
It's like this pastor thinks that just because scarves or headdresses are worn that the Constitution and the laws of the U.S. will no longer be valid. I don't believe he has thought this through.
