Stuff like this would go away if Republicans would stop trying to constantly force fundamentalist Christianity down the throats of all Americans. Do you think it's a coincidence that the attacks on cultural Christianity in this country really ramped up when Reagan and Falwell turned the religion into a political weapon in the early 1980s?
Let the church be the church and the state be the state and we'll all get along better in this country.
What, exactly, would the establishment of an "official" religion entail?
Do we make other religions illegal and jail people for adhering to them?
Do we pay the salaries of the pastors and staff members of the "official" religion? Or build churches for that religion with state money?
There are several nations in Latin America where the Catholic church is the "official" religion, but in reality, it has no practical effect. It's basically symbolic. So, why bother?
Also, most atheists I have met do not believe in heaven and hell.
Without hell, there is no Satan.
So how are atheists and Satanists the same?
To many, like the OP, if you are not a Christian that automatically makes you aligned with Satan. There is no middle ground in their minds. It's Christianity or hell. Period.
Jesus would be so proud.
And kudos to my state for allowing this display.
