OP, to the subject of universal healthcare and those here on this forum that oppose it: I've never picked up a racial vibe on that topic at all. What I mostly see are a few people who have been extremely fortunate to never, ever have anything bad happen to them, have had some luck in maintaining careers that afforded them very good healthplans, and have never had that at risk. Those numbers of people like that, for sure, are dwindling. What I note about them is that the completely lack empathy for anyone that has landed in some sort of medical crisis, nor do they seem to have any clue that there aren't enough jobs with fantastic health insurance in the U.S. for every citizen.

Actually I think people who support social programs have a racist agenda. They've already decided some races need help because they are too dumb to do XYZ or whatever it is the social program is supporting.

That's racist. /shrug/ Kidding. But not really.

People don't support universal healthcare because it's a terrible idea. Has nothing to do with race.

Obviously. Those same poor whites that love republicans have been voting for laws and bills that screw over minority groups. The irony is that they have been screwing over themselves by proxy.

That stupid mentality is so entrenched in conservative platform and it's taught and reinforced generation to generation.

Affordable healthcare, affordable education, better pay, expanding welfare are all things that would directly affect poor white people for the better without argument

Problem is they're (poor white people) so convinced that these things will "destroy" America that they frown at the mention of them and eagerly race to vote against them because someone suggests that those things will not only make life worse for them but will do so at the expense of making life better for the "others". These people are busy fighting against anyone & everyone actually trying to improve their lives due to years of loud republican propaganda that has convinced them that social welfare, free education, better/lower cost healthcare & stuff like that that could help a lot of people rise out from poverty are the devil.

There's a documentary, and I've only seen the trailers for it, about this poor town in Mississippi where the people are poor and racist. They'd rather live in squalor and spout slurs than end that hatred and fight with their fellow humans.

That's the funny thing about Rural America. Whites from these small towns love to act as if their crap doesn't also stink. They look down on blacks and hispanics in the "ghettos", but at the end of the day, they all go through the same thing. For every crack head in the hood, they're meth heads in the mountains.

The wealthy elite have used propaganda to fan the flames of racism and fear in order to divide the lower classes. They have done this for the purpose of keeping the lower classes from being united (as they once were) and fighting together against the oppression of the elite. This strategy has been largely successful.

Poor whites will be fine with having white "elites" put their boot on their neck as long as those same "elites" are stringing up black and brown people by theirs.

Nope. I only have an anti-theft agenda.

Unlike the brainwashed denizens of Team Red and Team Blue, I see people as individuals.

Pretty much this. Everyones fine for things that benefit them, but not for others. congress folks have great medical care at almost no cost. They love it. Theyre not as fond about taxpayers paying for others to have that sort of care. Everyone wants a free ride.

We get people here using the internet, yelling taxation is theft, and then when you call them on wanting something for nothing they deny it....while using the internet which exists because of government funding. Its moronic.

Everyone wants nuclear waste disposed of, no one wants it in their state.

I tend to have a "I grew up poor and succeeded, so why can't you ?" agenda. However, I do realize that I'm somewhat jaded and I always consider that when opining on things like social programs.
