Sean Spicer's book went over like a lead balloon. Poor sales. One reviewer summed it up as a dismal book written by a clueless man.

One wonders if Kelly's book would fare any better.

This is interesting. A Daily Caller article that claims Kelly did NOT want to resign. Curiouser and curiouser.
https://dailycaller.com/2018/12/07/j...ion-resigning/

I heard a campaign strategist not connected to the White House say Trump needs a Chief of Staff who is experienced with campaigning because everything Trump does should be directed at his re-election. The strategist said Nick Ayers would be perfect for the job.

Gen. Kelly doesn't strike me as someone who will throw a tantrum like Tillerson did. Too honorable.

Albeit that there was no love lost between Trump and Kelly, It's true what you state that Trump is positioning his White house for the 2020 election. All veteran campaigners will be put in place to flesh out the staff. Legal team designed strictly to hold off the Democratic congress.
Trump's getting ready to battle for the soul of the nation.

How many of these predictions have gone astray by now?

General Kelly is an honorable man with a distinguished service record, served proudly in the Marine Corps for so many years and he even lost a son in combat.

What did he get in return? Man, many people seem to forget that he is also a gold star dad, but this doesn't stop cowards from attacking him simply because he worked for president Trump.

Many seem to forget that General is a Marine, and this Man (capital M) will never stop working for his nation, that is why he worked in this administration. I doubt he worked because he wanted fame and money, I believed he worked in this administration because he loved his country.

He was offered an opportunity to continue to serve. He took it. Because men like him can’t stop serving others. Its what his life is based on.

Kelly is a good man who serves his country. He is currently occupying a very difficult position as Chief of Staff.

John Kelly is a GENERAL. The high rank of officer in the United States Armed Forces. He has survived DECADES of hostility, trouble, challenge, trial. he has learned negotiation, politics, manoeuver, command, leadership and endless other skills in his rise through the ranks.

John Kelly is doing sterling work in his current position and no matter how tough it is, he has seen far, far worse in combat. He is part of an administration many people personally despise, but is, as far as I can see, an honorable and very skilled member of that administration. Trump's White House NEEDS good, smart and strong leaders right now. General Kelly is one of those leaders.

Lets see who is there to replace Gen Kelly.
And now this crapstorm is so bad that even this tough Marine is not on speaking terms with (Bone Spur) Trump and is on his way out.

Smart of Ayers to take himself out of the running. He's a smart young guy with still big ambitions for his future. Why waste his potential in an impossible position dealing with a ridiculous guy who has the walls closing in from all sides? Like the last two, he will only come out worse off for his troubles. This way he can still claim credit for what he did for the more reasonable Pence and tout his continued support for Trump, if he continues to be a power center - but from a safer distance so that he won't go down if the President does.

Bingo.

Best to get off the playing field while this debacle unfolds.

Thumbs up Nick Ayers, Aide to Pence, Declines Offer to Be Trump’s Chief of Staff

Dec. 9, 2018
As President Trump heads into the fight of his political life, the man he had hoped would help guide him through it has now turned him down, and he finds himself in the unaccustomed position of having no obvious second option.
https://www.nytimes.com/2018/12/09/u...-of-staff.html

Not only can he NOT get qualified people, and he claimed he only gets the best, seems all he's managed to get so far are either BRAIN-DEAD or Pathological LYING Felons, like himself, but he can't even get ANYONE WHO W-A-N-T-S to work for him, except maybe Chris Christie, lol, lol, lol!
