Getting dark at 5pm is totally unacceptable imo.
Darkness at 5pm is not a constraint of the earth and its axis tilt. Darkness at 5pm is a constraint of ridiculous social constructs. There is nothing stopping people of any given locale or area from going to DST all year round or moving themselves into the next time zone to push sunset ahead one hour. 5pm darkness becomes 6pm darkness with nothing more than the stroke of a pen from a politician.

I'm sounding the alarm bells. Two days from now we are literally having a 23 hour day. Then mornings are forecast to be dark and miserable again, just as 6:45 a.m. was becoming bearable. The forces of daylight change denial won by silencing those who were concerned and global humanity is the loser.
