Right now CA has become a one part state with much of the GOP voting demographic(White Middle Class) leaving for other states. The CA GOP has either tried to pander to its declining constituency, wealthy donors, or tried the Bush/Rove soft on immigration approach which has not worked and only alienated its constituency.

The democratic party is an alliance of wealthy White Liberals and working class Latinos but that alliance is unsustainable and in the future dissatisfied voters from both working class Latino and SWPL backgrounds will look for an alternative.

Housing and the YIMBY movement will emerge as the main issue.

California is in trouble with the Dems leading it over the cliff. I wonder if it wasn't such a big state if it would now be bankrupt due to its Liberal policies and Sanctuary state status? Illegal immigration cost California an estimated $23 BILLION per year. If it was a smaller state like in the Northeast that cost would be crushing.

One does have to wonder what will happen to California and ultimately the country if the Dems get their wish for open borders. California is a testing ground and it is not looking good.

230 billion a decade and possibly much more spent on illegal aliens and their mainly huge households plus well over a trillion in state and local debt and unfunded pensions.

The population tends to be extremely deep into debt to emulate celebrity lifestyles also.

I think it's interesting how they claim to have these huge budget surpluses but yet state and local debt plus unfunded pension liability in California is $1.3 Trillion

https://californiapolicycenter.org/c...-1-3-trillion/

California also tends to have much bigger booms and busts compared to the rest of the country.

California also has by far the most leveraged debt-laden household burden per-capita in America.

Odd, how New York is far richer on a per-capita basis and yet the residents have far less debt. Californians have nearly twice the debt per-capita of the frugal residents of Ohio and Michigan, but per-capita incomes are only 20% higher

Who knows what crazy bat sheet stuff California will do next. Like Illinois and New York they will be forever controlled by the most Corrupt Cronie politicians in the country. You will have to belong to their party to do business there. The whole country will be like that eventually.

If we can keep most of the stupid in California, we will be better off as a country.

Who knows- maybe the agricultural parts of the state will break off and form a separate state. The large coastal cities there certainly do not share the same interests of the rural areas of the state. However, if most of the citizens of the state are democrats, I guess that is the representation that they want. None of my business, as I don't live there and am not affected by their policies.

California is just so massive and different from area to area. Many of the people who feel they have absolutely no government representing them, basically no say, will probably just keep their opinions to themselves, live in an area that seems to suit them OK and go about their life as usual.

If you live in one of the desert-areas, that resembles post-apocalyptic America, you may technically live in California..............but that is about it. This is true as far as what most people view as the "real" California.

I was recently in Trona, Ca........a partially abandoned "city" surrounded by LOTS of active
industrial-plants belching smoke into the sky. The residential-area has house after house that have been abandoned, same for many commercial buildings.

For Dems it will be a case of be careful what you wish for. Anything and everything that goes wrong will be their fault.
