Before the internet, people wrote books, were interviewed in newspapers and magazines, etc. Many times, their words came back to bite them years later. With social media, there is no filter to begin with so people don't think about repercussions and you don't have to know or do anything useful to be able to post your words. I don't feel sorry for some of these people for having old stuff come back to bite them. Consequences for actions are a simple part of life.
