She was arrested by Canada and has not been extradited to the U.S. yet.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...=.94393180332f

"Beijing has thus far shown a willingness to keep the issue separate from its ongoing trade dispute with the United States, focusing instead on pressuring Canada to release Meng and stop extradition proceedings.

Over the weekend, China warned of “severe consequences” for Canada if the country does not immediately release Meng. Chinese officials also summoned the U.S. and Canadian ambassadors to protest the arrest."

Pretty sure this will change once she is in the US. China is VERY upset about this. This is one of their rich member of the party sort of folks, who in China would be untouchable for most things. This simply isnt done. And she apparently has some health issues. The defense is trying to claim they didnt own the company responsible, etc.

We're definitely going to see China do more then just ban some iphone sales. I expect US corporate folks to look REAL nervous. Biggest worry? They go after someone who is a friend of Trump and things escalate more.

Aside from what happened to her, why is Huawei important to the future technologies? They do wireless networking microchips. Look at these small unmanned boats, they can do coordinated attacks in a large number as a pack.

My instinct is that Meng's extradition lawsuit will linger for a while -- probably way past the 90-day trade talk deadline.

If US is serious in extraditing Meng, it would behave in low profile. Read another similar case:
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...=.13e6e87cea6e

In the above case, the Chinese State Security agent Xu was lured to Belgium and then extradited to US quietly. If US is serious in arresting Meng, it would do it more clandestinely. Most likely Meng is a bargaining chip.

People want access to the U.S. because it is a nice country in which to visit and do business. We do not have to follow Marx's dictum about selling the hangman the rope with which to execute us.

The only difference between me and the US is that the USA is too powerful for anyone to do anything to but you can bet this is an amoral and illegal action and the rest of the world thinks you deserve some kind of comeuppance.

This is again a US law, she did not defraud US companies. She just provided a VPN for Iranian transactions to carry through.
So. China does not respect international law either...………
