And anybody with a brain knows that those "deplorable" democrats progeny are the "deplorable" republicans we have today............

to wit:

Here’s what PPP found among likely Republican primary voters who support Trump in South Carolina:

Should the Confederate flag should still be flying over the South Carolina State House?
Yes – 70%

No - 20%
I'll give the new age republicans credit. Among South Carolina democrats in pre 1960's this number would have probably been around 90-10.

And among South Carolina republicans of that era (what few there were) I bet it would have been about 90-10.

As you showed in your previous post 7% of 94 southern dems voted for Civil rights act while 0% of 10 southern republicans voted for the act.

Meanwhile the difference between northern dems and pubs was negligible and what difference there was was generally due to border state legislators siding with their southern counterparts.

This is overly simplistic. You need to look at region as much as party affiliation for the sake of racial attitudes. In a nutshell- the vast majority of Southern Whites were either against or indifferent to civil rights whether they had a D or an R on their voting card. If you look at the votes for/against the major civil rights legislation the states/region of origin will tell a bigger story than the party.

But if everyone is so upset by these evil Dems- can we strip their names of buildings and take down their statues across the South? That will really strike a blow!

Any takers?

And can we also ask Trump to quit nominating people with dubious racial views so poor Tim Scott doesn't get stuck being the one who has to torpedo them?

This topic is about the GOP and slavery. Not Nixon. He clearly hid stuff, and when it came to light the GOP was willing to impeach him for it.
Was I the one who opened the door to using quotes from past president's to make the case for party-wide racism? I put together a stronger, more recent argument, that tracks with consensus opinion on how the Southern Strategy unfolded, so now you want to exclude talking about what past presidents said.

The topic is about Conservatives and what party they've called home over the years. Trying to hide the facts of ideology behind party labels is what modern Republicans have been preaching to coverup that the same Conservatives who were hostile towards Blacks in the 1860s are ideologically aligned with the Conservatives who are hostile towards Blacks today.

Nixon was a known racist -- the GOP knew it, anyone who witnessed his campaign unfold knew it -- and the GOP still voted him into office. Ironically, it was the same conversations as what we're having today about Trump. All the same people are out here letting the world know we're electing a racist to POTUS, and Conservatives shrug and still cast their vote for him.
