We have death panels now.
1) People will not see the doctor for fear of a huge bill. They learn when they pass out, wake up at the hospital and are told they are stage 4 cancer and will be dead in a month.
2) Insurance deciding what is covered is very much a death panel.

Bovine scatterings. My employer health insurance in 2005 was 14K family (I know because they only subsidized $300 a month). 2009 it was just under 20k (I know because of Cobra).

Dont you have Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers insurance?

The drone lord is at it again, why can’t he leave us alone?

The goal isn’t universal coverage alone, it is to get the profit motive out of healthcare distribution.

Well, thank God Donald Trump came along and gave us that big, beautiful healthcare plan he promised everyone. Oh, wait...………………………..

I still remember the town meetings where many people who used and needed Obamacare stood up and forced their republican law makers to abandon their quest to repeal Obamacare and replace it with nothing. Using the term Obama goons is an attempt to once again rewrite history and deflect from the truth.

If Medicare for all never becomes a reality, it will be because of the drug companies, the insurance companies, and the dozen foundations funded by the Koch brothers.

Many will thank {R}s and Trump from removing the pharmacist gag rule where they were not allowed
to inform you that your drugs would be cheaper if you did not use your health insurance. Where was the great Obama and the mastermind behind Obamacare? where was the {D} party? That one act of stopping the fleecing of Americans by big pharma is a 19 billion dollar savings to them.

Please tell us how the {D} party is the party of the working man{lmao} and how they are against those big bad corporations{lmao} and are always looking out for the best interest of the poor{lmao}. plus Trumps term is not over and maybe there will be a new health care plan replacing worthless and un affordable Obamacare.

My premiums and deductible have gone back down to where it was before Obama, Pelosi & Reid screwed it all up. I even have a $25 co-pay again, instead of what seemed like $165 at each doctor visit.

I don't know about you, but low deductibles($2500 instead of $12,500) and lower premiums($320 instead of $940) are a reality for us since Trump took over and killed Obamacare.

Why do you have to be "far left" to want to see that everyone has affordable access to health care?
That's the idiotic right wing nonsense that equates UHC with "socialism" and "bad". They are too stupid to think otherwise and they are brainwashed by their corporate and 1% overlords.....

Because it only makes it affordable for those wealthy enough to absorb the added tax, and those that pay no taxes.
The middle classes are devastated, by the added cost taken from their weekly budgets in added government taxes, taken at the end of a gun.
It creates a slave class and a ruling class, with no middle, as seen in Britain.

I am among the most prolific posters on this forum who favor Universal Healthcare- the right of everyone to healthcare. This includes an obligation on the part of people to maintain healthy lifestyles and insure their risks.

How it’s delivered is secondary.

No two countries deliver Universal Healthcare the same way.

Some countries ( a tiny minority) rely entirely on Private ( Insurance) Pay. The healthy 20 year old pays the same premium as a sickly 80 year old. No one is denied private basic insurance. Most have Supplimental insurance to pay for that which the basic plans do not.

Some rely on some form of Single Payer.

Most are a mixed bag. Most Western countries do not have a fully public or private healthcare system.

Some countries mandate employer contributions and some do not.

Those countries with a semblance of Single Payer delegate to the equivalent of the state level. In other words, there is no national system with common administration and uniform delivery of service. Rather, it is a patchwork of state- like systems.

Given that 75% of us in the US ( the third most populated country) are overweight/ obese and growing is evidence that most people have not taken responsibility for their own health. That more than 100 million of us are Diabetic or pre- Diabetic is evidence of a failure to take responsibility for our own health. on Average it costs nearly $10,000 / year to treat Diabetes and ensuing complications. The US population is unnecessarily vulnerable to heart disease, high BP, stroke, some Cancers, Joint Deterioration etc because of weight.

That Congress has not yet seen fit to authorize Medicare ( closest thing we have to a primary Single Payer model) to negotiate/ regulate the cost of prescription medications says something about this country.

The US could easily pick up the full tab for healthcare for those who take responsibility for their own health and maintain a waist size in the very generous healthy range.why should any government care more about its people’s health they they do?
