Want to see a indication that you're being conned? This from that article is a great example:
Quote:
Nearly one-third won't see anyone on Medicaid.

By comparison, 80 percent of doctors are taking new privately insured patients.
notice the 1/3 to 80% switch? It changes both units-a % vs thirds. At the same time it also switches between the number NOT being seen vs the number being seen. Heres what it looks like if you don't do that:

Nearly 66% will see anyone on Medicaid. By comparison 80% of Doctors will see anyone with private insurance

Which seems like a pretty minor difference. But the prior sentence is designed to make it FEEL larger to most people.

She made up an argument and then argued against her made up argument. Very weak.

Here is the argument.

It is NOT what she is claiming.

Medicaid is a joint Federal/ State initiative. Fed picks up about 57% of cost.

Eligibility and reimbursement structures are highly variable across states and within state by program.

States set their own reimbursement rates which are usually less than Medicare reimbursement rates, thus the reason why most medical practices LIMIT the number of Medicaid patients they will accept.

The argument that because Medicaid reimburses at lower rates than Medicare/ private insurers, thus the rest pay more is a tad circular. Unreimbursed Care for the uninsured without means has a far greater impact.

no she made a good point about how the government ( medicaid ) underpays doctors and hospitals hoping to drive down the cost of health care which it doesn't. then the rest of us on private insurance have to get screwed by paying higher premiums.

Maybe she can make a point about the poor officiating in football also. It would only be slightly less relevant.

This depends on where you live.
Here, almost no one will see medicaid or aca plans.
