Trump today undercut himself. Said he would not pull the National Emergency lever. Sounded like he saw the GOP Senators on the TV.
So he has lied about the Emergency at the border.
Now we have a real national emergency with hundreds of thousands of American citizens unable to pay their bills. But Trump would drag out the government shutdown until people are literally starving to death before he would do the right thing, agree to reopen the government then sit down with the Dems and negotiate in good faith. This is a man with no honor, no decency, no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
I saw part of Lawrence O'Donnell's program, where he was talking very eloquently on what he considers to be Trump's "foundational lie." He believes it to be the lie that Obama was born in Kenya.
I don't know exactly what he means by "foundational" in this case. I don't consider this to be Trump's biggest lie or his most important one. But I think maybe O'Donnell regards this as the early lie that set Trump's campaign in motion, by attracting followers who liked that it appealed to their bigotry - or maybe just felt threatened by Obama and were happy to have any excuse to disrespect him.
I was thinking it over, and I think Trump's foundational lie, in that sense, is the lie that he's a good businessman. That misled a lot of people into trusting his judgment. Of course, we now know that Trump was involved in multiple bankruptcies, stiffed his creditors, treated people in ways that never would have been permitted ordinarily, and repeatedly ran afoul of the law. That's not what most people would consider a good businessman.
But what do you think might be Trump's basic initial foundational lie?

Trump already has hurt people. A lie about his bankruptcies. He had 4 or more and hurt a lot of sub-contractors and their employees.
You see today the liar in chief is stuck in his biggest lie (Mexico will pay for the wall). He has lied since it started and will continue.
But I think maybe O'Donnell regards this as the early lie that set Trump's campaign in motion,
Trump's comments about Obama's birth certificate set in motion Obama attacking him during a correspondents dinner. Usually these are lighthearted events but if you watch Obama's body language he wasn't making jokes about it and it was more than a just a few jokes. Undoubtedly that night and Obama himself set the foundation for Trump's campaign.
"Thousands of Muslims were cheering in the streets of Jersey City when the twin towers came down on 9/11. I saw it on TV".
This was utter rubbish, totally false, and a sick put down of the citizens of Jersey City. Many of that city's residents died on 9/11.
