I would say that its less access to guns but the NRA will probably say its less suicidal people.

There are plenty of other ways to commit suicide but guns are the most effective. Those who survive a first attempt have a low recidivism rate.
Major driver is increase in suicide, but if you look at the trended data, you'll see that even adjusted per 100K people, homicide is elevated at highs since at least 1999. Flat 2016-2017, growth from the 2000s..
Remove suicides, law enforcement. What percentage are gang activity/drug related/mental illness? Where is this subset occuring? I don't mean by state either, what part of what cities? How many are accidents?
Lot of room for improvement there. Lesson: do not agree to every procedure your doctor recommends.
