Here is what the conditions are like at LAUSD in Los Angeles: students notebooks being eaten away by rats, rat urine and many schools with buildings that are falling apart.

https://abc7.com/education/south-gat...class/3514973/

Looks like the rats are so bad in one LA school that they are eating away at the students notebooks and also students are subjected to rat urine.

Another report that just came that out of a whopping $298,000 yearly that goes to each classroom in LAUSD only 29% goes to the teacher salaries with the majority of the rest going to pensions, benefits and administration.

For what California schools spend, they could send the students to first-class boarding schools with lavish grounds that look like a resort with chef-prepared gourmet meals.

K-12 spending per pupil in California when all the funds are included: $16,085

Luxury overseas resort boarding school with facilities one would find a very nice resort: $12,000

Looks like full-boarding starts at about $4,000 less per year then the total amount per-capita that California allocates per student for it's schools which some have rat issues.

I'd like to see some liberals (who run public education lock, stock & barrel) weigh in as to how this is justifiable. One of the things noted by Gehl & Porter about current politics is that our education systems are being very ill-served.

OP always seems very concerned about Los Angeles. It might be time for him to move there and run for office to fix all these issues he loves to bring up.

Nah, governor. San Francisco gets plenty of attention too.

Let me guess, you are a teacher in LA? Otherwise, why wouldn't you want to fix it.

LA seems to be pretty bad with rat problems lately.

Worst place I've ever seen for rats (other than a temple in India where rats are actually worshipped) was Seattle. I saw at least a few running around on the streets every single day I visited, and sometimes saw dozens of them.

All this in broad daylight in the popular areas.
