I thought it was a hoax initially, but Air Force One has been reliably spotted flying over England into continental Europe, and has been tracked headed southeast over Romania, at last report. What's up?? I know whatever plane Trump flies on automatically becomes Air Force One, but this is the plane that generally is known as such. There have been no announcements of any government official using that plane today - Trump has not tweeted for around 17 hours - and no Marine guard is posted outside the Oval Office at present.
Possibilities:
Trump is making an unannounced visit to the troops.
Some international crisis is looming which requires the immediate presence of Trump or some other high-ranking American government official.
Trump decided to take a joy ride to visit someone.
Trump is defecting to Turkey or more likely, Russia. If this is the case, Trump's family may or may not be on board.
Jared Kushner and possibly his family is/are defecting.
Mattis has claimed the plane for his own and is visiting the troops.
Other theories are welcome. Have away at it.
My guess is that it's the first, since Trump has received heavy criticism for his failure to visit the troops either at home or abroad. The major networks are not covering this, but it is breaking on Twitter, since the plane was first spotted and photographed over Yorkshire in England in the wee hours, and has subsequently been tracked. It appears to have left Andrews Air Force Base around last midnight.
The various possibilities do make me a bit queasy, along with the lack of American flags flying above the Capitol this past weekend...

Yeah, but they actually made an effort to get along with their immediate staff. Trump on the other hand, hasn't found enough buses on the Beltway to throw his people under.

Trump has not tweeted in nearly 20 hours which is unusual, even when flying. ( Dow right now is up + 625)
He has been criticized for not visiting troops and given he has nothing else going on, maybe he decided to surprise some troops. Could be the latest installment of Trump reality TV.
