Trump also advocated taking guns without due process. He has no respect for the 1st or 2nd amendments.
What action has he taken against the 1st, and 2nd Amendments? Bump stocks are just a novelty toy for idiots. A rubber band can do the same thing. It is a way to waste ammo, and destroy accuracy.
I'm one of the "Not an inch" crowd.
I still couldn't care less about bump stocks.
Just a stupid range toy for wasting ammo.
(If you could even find a range that would allow them.)

Well, "not an inch" guy... by not caring you just gave them 6" and left an opening for them to take a mile.
The bump stock ban was signed today but it's implications are far greater than criminalizing the possession of a stupid plastic bouncy-stock.
Today a president of the USA (who was a self-proclaimed "champion" for gun rights) is responsible for taking the legally obtained property of tens of thousands of gun owners without compensation and turning them into felons overnight if they don't, even though these people did absolutely nothing wrong.
Trump totally bypassed the legislative branch of government by forcing a change in the definition of what legally constitutes a "machine gun" according to the ATF. The definition of a "machine gun" has now been broadened so wide open that it could easily be used as a springboard to ban not only bump stocks but ALL semi-auto firearms. There were no votes, no debates, no democratic process, just an orange man with a titanic ego and a roundish office who wanted to do something which negatively effects huge numbers of people and to do it unilaterally and by any means necessary.
If you are anti-gun, you probably applaud this action, but stop and consider what precedent has just been set today and how it could be used across the board by the president (present and future) to literally rule by decree on many different issues.
I've never owned a bump stock and always thought they were stupid... I probably wouldn't have cared if congress passed a specific ban on them, but what happened today is wrong, unAmerican and an act of tyranny. Not for banning bump-stocks themselves, but for how it was done.
... and it will happen again in far worse ways if we don't turn this ship around fast. Impeach Trump!!!!
Wow, that's wild. A decent chunk of Trump's base has to be PISSED about this news.

Has the NRA chimed in yet?
They sure did, right after LV:

Despite the fact that the Obama administration approved the sale of bump fire stocks on at least two occasions, the National Rifle Association is calling on the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) to immediately review whether these devices comply with federal law.
Not suprising, Trump really doesnt seem to have any strong core values or positions.
