Look, I'm sympathetic to arguments that we shouldn't be so deep in the Middle East. Mistakes were made in the past, both under Bush and Obama, thay got us in there.
But the reality is it happened. And now that we're there, we need to see certain things through to get to a point of effective withdrawal.
ISIS is no lt defeated; that's another Trump lie. When every single ranking military member, foreign policy expert, and even key GOP Senators are telling you this is a mistake, we should listen. Listening is not Donald's strong suit.
There are 2-3K US troops in Syria. That's a pretty small footprint; about half of what is on the Mexico border right now fighting a largely imaginary enemy. That footprint still had critical work to do to get ISIS to 0% effectiveness and ensure that locals are fully ready to handle their security. Military lraders on the ground are saying it was working and now was not yet the time to bail. Now that we prematurely ejected, we can be sure that ISIS will come roaring back - and Russia and Iran will step in to capitalize on the void and ratchet up threat tp Israel.
