Middle east is a place where US should have never ever been involved with. Let Muslims figure out their problems I feel bad for Kurdish people, but frankly if you look overall since the first gulf war 1991 we have accomplished nothing there. All we did was send 5000 US service men home in body bags, and spent billions for nothing. Look at Saudi Arabia richest nation in the middle east they sat back did nothing and was biggest supporters of 9/11 attacks yet we spent billions on them, and only after everyone is shocked how they killed some journalist we talk about cutting arms sales. I support the pull out of all troops in the middle east who ever is president this should be top priority.
Takeaways for other countries from this decision:
1. US word will not be trusted for decades until re-earnt. No longer indispensable or exceptional.
2. Kurds have been thrown under the bus after siding with US in ISIS fight - big win for Turkey
3. Russia will own eastern middle east
4. Israel will be exposed to Iran surrogates
5. EU/germany/france will develop military muscle to defend itself without US help
6. From 5, Russia has about 5 years to make moves on baltics ukraine before it will be completely outgunned by EU
7. Possible war iran v saud, india v pak (from breakup of Afgahnistan)
8. Lots of worried countries in asia as china will assume dominance
9. Japan re-arms
A lot of interesting outcomes from a tweet.
Wow. Our U.S. special forces who have fought along side the Kurds are devastated. Most of the Kurds who have helped us will be killed.
That's a massive exaggeration. You can stay in a place for 100 years, eventually it's time to rip the band-aid off and leave. If this saves just 1 American life then it's 100% worth it.
We bit off more than we could chew and now it's time to withdrawal like we did in Vietnam. There is no easy way to withdraw, but it must be done.

Holy hyperbole. Did America stop becoming a superpower?
Either way, we'll do just fine. Oh God forbid we take our troops out of harms way after 17 years.
Let's assume you are right, was it right that the Secretary of Defense would find out about a withdrawal in a tweet? That our allies would also get no heads up or those in charge of our troops would like wise hear about it in a tweet? Trump is too impulsive and that impulsiveness is darn right dangerous when you're never more than a few feet from the nuclear codes!
Why not? Obama fired Mattis without a phone call, tweet, or face to face meeting, yet you weren't mad then!!? Why are all you crybabies mad now.
Many people, myself included, read quotes from Mattis but never did any true research on him when Trump initially selected him. It turns out, Mattis was committed to this global strategy, of globalism and reframing the middle east through the type of introventionism and nation-building that General Wesley Clark spoke about.
It hasn't worked in 18 years and we are eventually going to be forced into FULLY disengaging from the whole ME, all the while, the countries we invaded are going to return to just the same as they were before we invaded them in the first place.
The only difference --- we are and will end up being a much poorer nation in relative terms because of thinking and belief systems of people like General Mattis.

Never said US would stop being a superpower, and will probably will stay the only global superpower. My comments were about what other countries will possibly do if they read the Syrian action as proof of US stepping away from anything that does not directly affect it.

What other countries will do? They will wonder who will pay for the next police action? Our allies are like those friends you meet for dinner but never pay their own way.
We never should have gone into Syria. It was a civil war. They were not ally and they didn't want us there. We never should have involved ourselves in Libya our Yemen either.
If the world body feels so strongly about it then let the UN pass resolution requiring member states to take action and take an equal share in paying the bills.
Im sorry but I don't see Syria or Syrians as being worthy of even 1 tax dollar let alone risking lives of our soldiers .

The rest of the world did not want us doing what we did.

Note that General Mattis was not 'fired', but removed from his command of Central Command, yet he remained an active General. I admit that the way it was handled by Obama was poor.
