I was in Oslo for 10 days and saw countless rich white people with $70K Teslas, so no, rich people are not killing the electric car.

Which, really is kind of sad. The Volt was a viable concept forward. True electrics will never make it as a primary vehicle. Limited range and long charging times-a cross country trip might be possible, but not practicable with one. With the Volt's plug-in hybrid design at least it can make it as an individuals or families primary vehicle. Still-a diesel is a more practical approach than a hybrid. Simpler driveline, none of the redundancies and extra weight of two power plants, and excellent mileage. I looked at a Equinox diesel-they are knocking down nearly 50 mpg, with good performance.
The Volt has gas that kicks in when the battery runs out. GM wants to go all electric because this is the future.

Ever recycle a battery?
What are they going to do once that becomes a real problem for the environment?

You don't know what you're talking about. We're already seeing electric cars with the same range, and cars coming out soon will go further than most ICE vehicles. The biggest gap is charging solutions, which are catching up very quickly. 5-10 years from now will look a lot different.

My cousin's car literally started on fire as she was driving one day. She barely made it out of the car alive.

What should I take from this?

There are only so many ways to generate electricity. Except for water, wind and solar, which way doesn’t generate pollution?

There’s a waste of energy to generate electricity by burning oil and another waste to transfer electricity to kinetic energy - moving the car.

It would be much more efficient and cleaner to just burn fuel.
Are you actually for real?...

You might want to go back to physics class.

Electric motor are significantly more efficient, and it's not even close.

You mean how the tax payers subsidize (and have subsidized for many decades now) the oil industry?

Lol - take your obfuscation elsewhere.

Duh, of course electric motors are more efficient but that’s not the point!

The point is there is no efficient and clean way to generate electricity except for nuclear.

If you want electric car, let’s go full nuclear.
