Well, trump stayed in Washington and was willing to negotiate on the budget and the congressional leadership went on vacation. what do those responses say about who is serious and cares about the people affected by the government shutdown and who isn't?
You are referring to Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan, correct? And please do not try to sell the idea that Trump cares about the people. It just isn't so!
Honestly who would be opposed to a wall along our border and why? Seems to me a no brainer. Its not a very scenic part of the US and not many visitors to the area for tourism, so why not create a physical border? Same goes for thr Canadian side. Its common sense.
The wall is an insane idea for many reasons. By the standard of improved security, Trump’s plan is, at best, half-baked. A recent Government Accountability Office report warned of the possibility of massive waste because the administration’s border plans are so undeveloped. A proposal that may eventually cost $40 billion (estimate per MIT engineers) has been shaped more by the president’s political instincts than by serious study of alternatives. Agents in the field overwhelmingly request better technology and more personnel rather than longer and higher border barriers.
Was there not a SCOTUS ruling that one federal agency could not enforce their regulations upon another federal agency. IIRC it came from the EPA ordering the DoD to stop dumping pollution from a military base into the Pacific. The DoD sued, the EPA lost.
But in this case it is a Union suing the Federal Gov't.

How can they sue if the money is simply not there?
This is like a company going bankrupt but they didn't tell the employees and they came in to work their shift and the doors are locked.
If they don't like working "for Free" but they will get paid once the Dems agree to put aside some money to protect America why don't they just stay home?
Trump wants to protect America from a real threat. Border security is important but the Dems don't care. I bet if the "migrants" that were sneaking in were carrying guns, bibles and were desperate to vote Republican the Dems would change their tune fast and build that wall.
The money’s there, it’s the budget that’s not. There’s a difference. The governments not bankrupt.
This is like a private employer saying ‘we want you to keep working, but we can’t pay you until our executives finalize the budget for the new fiscal year. Sorry but we don’t know when that might be.’
That would be totally illegal and there no reason it should be ok to do it to a government employee.
So, the stock market will continue to go crazy
The Government will start defauling on it's debt
The Government loses a credit rating or two, or three, or four....

Unrelated. Did any of those things happen back in 2006 when the wall bill was actually passed? And yes, we still need that wall as congress' promised back then. There are still thousands crossing our border illegally every month.
Unfortunately, the plan does no good. Trump is not backing off from a wall demand, and Democrats aren’t giving into the wall, so it’s a question of who will give in first and how long that will take. I could see this being a historically long shutdown. You never know what will happen in Washington.
There was funding for upgrades of what we already have but the big communist style wall isn`t going to happen. Trump needs to listen to other voices, not just the white supremacist tiki torch Proud Boys.
Uncalled for and totally wrong. Most who want the wall do not fit the nasty description that you are painting of them. Wanting a secure border has nothing to do with racism. Typical race card pulling by your type though.
