Of course we're all still here. Evidently your life is such that you're not affected. Please don't speak for everybody. Why are you sitting there watching the hype of this non-event when you should be drinking your carrot juice and going to your red tide beaches?

Uh-Oh .......... Shutdown has been going on for 36 hours and already 'people are beginning to starve' and 'children are suffering'. Republican 'do not care' and Democrats are 'concerned for their fellow citizens'.

Oh, the humanity!

You're still avoiding the question by slandering other people. How does someone who is already paid for the month not get paid? Do you take back their paychecks?

Keep saying that. They are SALARIED workers. They got PAID on Nov. 30. Sorry for the shouting but that's what it seems to take to get it into your head.

I have no idea about how Federal workers get paid..... but when I was with the State our pay was delayed by 6 weeks.

My husband at C&C pay was delayed 2 weeks, his Veteran's check is either for the month before, or after, I forget.

I do not think Federal workers get paid in advance.

I believe Natalie's point is that during a shut down, they are working without the commitment to be paid... depending on how long the shutdown continues, that could result in pay dates passing, without receiving a check or deposit.

Of course they were paid on 11/30, there was no shutdown on that date, and probably covered 11/1 to 11/15.

Nothing will change that, either.

Now we are saving , as we are not paying 420,000 employees today, laid off, whom their employer admits are not essential.
No, they will be paid. This is basically a paid vacation for them, while the citizens are not getting the services they pay for. Incredibly stupid, and only because the conservative commentators like Limbaugh and Coulter played him into it. Trump was going to let it go, but they started talking about how he was "caving in", which is when he changed his mind.

It’s utterly absurd. The shutdown started on Friday night of a pre-scheduled four-day federal holiday weekend but people are purportedly becoming hungry and homeless already. I saw someone in another thread claim that their local national park in UT had shut down and was already “affecting people”. Then I read that all Utah NP’s are open as usual.

I haven't seen any articles hyping the shut down at all, I suppose if you go looking for crazy you can find it though.

Here is a list of those things that ARE affected:
