Pelosi, who has put blame squarely on President Donald Trump for the current government shutdown, was spotted Thursday vacationing in Hawaii at the Fairmont Orchid resort, where room accommodations range from $899-a-night for a standard room to $4,899-a-night for the presidential suite.

So?

The House is out of session, and just in case you forgot, the GOP controls it. It's their choice to keep it closed.

But nice try.

Are you feeling the non-essential government being shutdown?
Personally I'm not feeling anything different and business is booming.

Poor Nancy. What can she do? She is the MINORITY leader. She can't vote and neither can anyone for something unless the MAJORITY allows it. Ryan, under orders from Trump, never let the House vote on the clean CR passed UNANIMOUSLY in the senate. Things will change next week. Until then, enjoy your vacation Ms. Pelosi. You have a lotta Trump thumping to do.

Paul Ryan, Speaker of the House, has not been seen in DC in the past few days. Mitch McConnell, Senator Majority Leader, has not been seen in DC either. They are the leaders of the House and Senate. Where are they? Why is there only a right-wing article about Pelosi and Maxine's vacation? Why? Because Trump is trying to deflect because he's got a plan to jet to Mar-a-Lago. He's trying to deflect to Democrats vacations even though the GOP controls the Senate and the House and those GOP leaders left DC too.

Americans need our own gated Community like Pelosi and Maxine. Bottom line is Trump is fighting to build American Gated Community while Pelosi wants to deny the American people the same protections they have.

Most of the able bodied adults already have jobs but make low enough wages to qualify for food stamps. Although children and elderly and disabled are the vast majority of food stamp recipients and you can't expect an 85 year old in a wheel chair or a 2 year old toddler to look for a job.

O'Connell is home in Kentucky. Ryan as you know is packing to leave DC.

The reason why Pelosi is getting a little heat for her extravagant tropical vacation is because she purports herself to be a politician working for the people. The underpaid, the insurance-less, the illegals, etc etc. It's bad optics at a bad time to be seen at a plush $900.00 a day resort during a tumultuous shutdown resulting in people not being paid. She *could* be in DC, pushing for compromise. Showing her constituents that she talks the talk *and* walks the walk.

Had Trump gone to Mar-A-Lago the conversation would be about his creating bad optics by leaving town. As it stands, Pelosi is the one in the limelight.

How is any of this surprising or unfair?

Good for her! She deserves it--and it is not costing the taxpayers hundreds of thousands less than Trump's vacations. In fact, he has spent 218 days at one of his resorts or clubs.

Nancy and Maxine taking a week off does not bother me in the least.

And yet it’s Pelosi and her extravagant vacation being discussed, both by the media and in this thread, and not Paul Ryan.

Why? Because Pelosi isn’t walking the walk of her democratic constituents at the moment. She’s showing bad optics in a very typical “let them eat cake” American politician kind of way. This is what I’ve said since page one and I still feel that way. You don’t have to agree. That’s ok.
