Oh yes. Sounds like something he'd do....

Pulling us out of these stupid conflicts would be doing the opposite. Why haven't we flogged Bush and Obama?

I don't support Trump (but would support this move) but I support the hypocrisy that is so rampant in this country even less.

Obama and Hillary both Supported invading Syria and voted for a wall. This would be win/win for their wing of the party.

I agree we can't be the world's police force and should leave Syria and Afghanistan but:

1) I'm stunned he's stupid enough to announce his plan without at least conferencing with Mattis and other military leaders first and actually planning an exit strategy.

2) My answer to the OP's question stands, IF he'd use troop deployment as a political bargaining chip he'd deserve removal from office and a good public flogging.

I guess the big beautiful healthcare plan is a slogan, too.

How many of your loved ones' lives would you be willing to endanger to make that bargain?

Getting involved was an irrational decision so I'm not sure how we expect a higher standard out of Trump.

It's obvious that Mattis wanted no part of that. Discuss it with him, he wasn't going to help.

That's fair but it hasn't happened. As of now it is the OP's fantasy.

Comrade Trump would have to get permission from Putin to keep troops in Syria.

We don't know that, even Trump shows occasional hints of rationality. And even IF he couldn't be deterred, what's the sense of having a cabinet if their expertise isn't at least consulted?
