NORAD's annual tracking of Santa Claus.

Quote:
“In the event of a government shutdown, NORAD will continue with its 63-year tradition of NORAD Tracks Santa on Dec. 24. Military personnel who conduct NORAD Tracks Santa are supported by approximately 1,500 volunteers who make the program possible each and every year,” NORAD said in a tweet.

NORAD is funded through the Department of Defense, which isn’t subject to the shutdown. The Santa tracking program is ran mostly by thousands of volunteers who man phone lines and answer emails from children around the world.

That's a relief (wipes sweat off brow). It's a Christmas miracle!

The irony of a fictional entity (government) "tracking" another fictional entity (Santa Claus) puts a warm smile on my face.

I know, I know my Statist friends...mostly volunteers in action to track St. Nick. Still, you can't tell me at least some of the money stolen from me (us) is being used here. They are at least using the infrastructure of NORAD which came out of our wallets. Depreciation is something. And it says right there in the tweet that military personnel are supported by the volunteers.

Well, I guess the positive is with all this Santa tracking going on perhaps the DOD won't have time to issue some drone strikes. Speaking of which did you know that the drone budget for 2019 will be over $9 billion? That's a new record!

The drone budget request, dispersed among branches and nestled in other Department of Defense programs, topped $9 billion. As finalized in the conference budget minibus passed by the Senate Sept. 18...

At the very least NORAD should have Santa drop some bombs on Somalia, Yemen, Syria, and Afghanistan as a way to save some money.

Hey, this government shutdown was sure to get ugly and it don't get any uglier than Kris Kringle murdering brown babies.
