Any "foolproof" regulation (supposedly created for our protection) is guaranteed to give rise to a new-and-improved set of fools to challenge and violate it.

Especially when the previous regulations are not enforced.

The true purpose of many regulations touted to protect the consumer is to impose barriers to entry to protect existing corporations.

They would lend to high risk applicants because they would jack up the interest rate! It’s to mitigate the risk.

No sane bankers, stupid or not, would lend to a subprime applicant at the the same rate for a person with good credit.

My argument still stands - without the regulations, the banks would not take the risks and the whole 2008 crisis would not have happened.

This was proven out with Dodd/Frank.

Your argument was that a bank would not lend to a high risk applicant without the governments prodding. That argument has been dismissed. Quit trying to justify your statement by changing it.

Trying to pin down exactly what Libertarians stand for is like herding cats. But one thing they universally oppose is Authoritarianism. Which means that Libertarianism is the polar opposite of Trumpism. Anyone claiming to be a Libertarian and supports Trump is full of it.
